Personal data

Doctor Alexander S. Rodin, candidate of medical science (Ph.D), specialist in ophthalmology, mainly on laser surgery. Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology Lomonosov Moscow State University.

He was graduated from the 1st medical faculty of the Moscow Medical Academy by I.M. Setschenow in 1995.

1995—1998 he had residency in ophthalmology specialty in the Scientific Research Institute of Eye Diseases of the Russian Academy of Medical Science (the Institute Director is the founder of the Russian laser microsurgery of eye, Academician M. M. Krasnov.)

1998—2004 he worked as a research fellow of the branch of laser methods of treatment in the Scientific Research Institute of Eye Diseases of the Russian Academy of Medical Science (РАМН).

Experience of the patient receptions and results of the several thousand laser interventions Alexander Rodin systematized in the form of dissertation devoted to problems of laser treatment at retina’s breaks and detachments. The Ph.D. thesis upholding took place in 2001. In the same year he won the competition of the German Society of Academic Exchanges (DAAD) and got the grant for scientific work in Germany. Due to training at the university clinic in city of Regensburg under the direction of Professor Peter Gabel, he has seized the modern European approach to treatment and diagnostics of retinal diseases.

In 2004 A. S. Rodin was invited to work in “New Line Vision” clinic (Moscow) for a post of retinal branch manager, where besides organizational work he was engaged in laser treatment of VIP patients. In 2006 he published the book “Biomicroretinometry” (“Биомикроретинометрия”) — the first Russian monography devoted to diagnostics of the retinal diseases with the help of the newest instrument — optical coherence tomography (OCT). Results of Rodin’s scientific work were published in the USA and reported by him at some international conferences. He also worked as editor-in-chief of the Russian “Ophthalmology" journal. Since 1998 he has helped to a number of patients to organize their effective surgical treatment in ophthalmologic clinics of Germany and their postoperative medical observation in Moscow.

Since 2006 A.S. Rodin sees patients and performs laser treatment in the “Vision” eye clinic (NPAO “ECHO” Joint-Stock Company, Moscow) where leads the Foreign Ophthalmology section.

He teaches students at the ophthalmology chair of fundamental medicine faculty of the Moscow State University (МГУ) by M. V. Lomonosov. He is editor-in-chief of the Russian “Refractive surgery and ophthalmology” journal.
